Sudan Has Agreed To A Peace And Normalization Agreement With Israel

The growing number of Arab countries formalizing relations with Israel has been condemned by the Palestinians, who see this as a betrayal of their cause. Sudanese civilian Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok thanked Trump on Twitter, without mentioning Israel`s recognition – a move he had previously said he had no authority to do so. In early September 2016, it was announced that Israel had contacted the US government and other Western countries and encouraged them to take steps to improve relations with Sudan following the breakdown of relations between the Arab-African country and Iran last year. [9] In February 2020, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and The President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met in Uganda, where they agreed to normalize relations between the two countries. [10] Later that month, Israeli aircraft were allowed to fly over Sudan. [11] In May 2020, Israel took paramedics and equipment to Sudan to try to rescue a Sudanese diplomat, Najwa Gadah Aldam, who managed to organize the meeting in Uganda while working as a political advisor to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni when she became infected and died of COVID-19. [12] “All this felt compelled all the time by a government that wanted to use a terrorist designation as a political instrument to try to achieve normalization with Israel,” Goldenberg said. “When you do very transactional business with unrelated objects that don`t make sense, it happens sometimes.” “While Khartoum says yes today to peace with Israel, yes to recognition of Israel and normalization with Israel,” Netanyahu said. “The union of Sudan with others who have normalized relations with the state of israeli occupation represents a new sting in the back of the Palestinian people and a betrayal of the just Palestinian cause,” said Abu Youssef. The military and civilian leaders of Sudan`s interim government disagree on the speed and extent to which they must go to establish relations with Israel.

One of the sensitive points of the negotiations was Sudan`s insistence that any announcement of the abolition of Khartoum by the term terrorism is not explicitly linked to relations with Israel. The US president also said that at least five other Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, were considering normalizing relations with Israel. DONALD TRUMP PRESIDENT: The State of Israel and the Republic of Sudan have agreed on peace. France reaffirms its determination to support the democratic transition in Sudan and reaffirms its readiness to host a high-level conference in Paris, in line with President Macron`s commitment, to mobilize international support for the new Sudan.
